EMDR through Tele-therapy - Virtual, Remote, and Online
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing- it is an approach to therapy that was introduced by the Late Francine Shapiro in 1987 that has continued to evolve these last few decades. EMDR is traditionally a therapy that is used for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.
There have been specific protocols developed from and for EMDR to treat, support or stabilize symptoms and conditions such as depression, OCD, eating disorders, grief, pain, attachment trauma, addiction, just to name a few. EMDR is evolving beyond a treatment for just PTSD.
How Remote Virtual with EMDR Works
Virtual EMDR is a widely used and accepted practice in therapy, and if it is appropriate, you can do it in the comfort of your own home. Virtual EMDR can be used remotely with tools including :

-
Remote Virtual EMDR app or web assisted programs that use Visual, Audio Bilateral Stimulation (BLS). For more information on BLS or EMDR please see my FAQ tab.
-
Virtual EMDR can also use tactile BLS, which can be achieved using tappers which are handheld buzzers that provide vibration (not shocks!), or you can learn a method to self-tap if buying tappers are not within your means ( I can recommend some to you).
-
I also have updated training using EMDR 2.0 and the Flash technique. These techniques can help you process traumatic memories that you might be afraid to look at or feel too overwhelmed to think about.

EMDR may help to change our negative and stuck beliefs about ourselves and help us identify a path forward, redefining how we would like to see ourselves move on in the face of our past trauma.
